Fourth-generation Tacoma TRD Pro take-off wheels and tyres: sizes, offsets and what they fit

Owners of a 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport or SR5 often want the TRD Pro look and the tyre that comes with it. Take-off sets (wheels and tyres removed from new trucks) are the usual route, which is why wanted posts for them appear on Tacoma forums. This guide sets out what the specifications are, where sources disagree, and what to verify so that the set you buy actually fits.

The platform

The fourth-generation Tacoma (code N400) was introduced in 2023 and is sold as a 2024-on model.1 Wheel hardware common to the 2024 truck is reported consistently by owners and a retailer rep as:2

  • Bolt pattern 6x139.7 mm (6x5.5 in).
  • Hub (centre bore) 95.1 mm.
  • Studs M14 x 1.5.

The sixth-generation 4Runner shares its platform with the Tacoma, and owners on a 4Runner forum report the same 6x139.7, 95.1 mm hub and 14x1.5 hardware across its trims.3

TRD Pro wheel and tyre figures

A 4Runner forum thread collating factory data lists, for the TRD Pro and the Trailhunter, an 18-inch flat-black (Pro) or flat-bronze (Trailhunter) wheel that is 8.5 inches wide at +20 mm offset, wearing 265/70R18 Toyo Open Country A/T III tyres rated at 33 inches overall.3 By comparison, the same thread gives the TRD Off-Road wheel as 18x7.5 at +55 mm offset.3

Tyre size is easier to confirm: a tyre-size database lists 265/70R18 as the factory tyre for the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro and calculates 32.6 inches overall diameter.4 The difference between 32.6 and "33 inch" is rounding in marketing versus calculation. A Discount Tire representative quoted in an owner thread said the generation-four Tacoma was made capable of 33-inch tyres and that 265/70R18 would be a solid fit on stock Limited wheels without a lift.2 Tyre brand can vary by year and powertrain: reports in the 4Runner thread give different tyres for gas and hybrid trucks,3 so confirm the brand on the actual tyres rather than assuming it from the model-year label. The 4Runner figures are quoted there as shared with the 2024 Tacoma, which is a forum statement; confirm against the Tacoma's own placard.

Where the figures disagree

Do not assume one number applies to every "TRD" wheel:

  • The Tacoma owner thread reports the plain TRD (not Pro) 18-inch wheel as 18x8 at +45 mm, and the Limited 18x7.5 at +55 mm.2
  • A used-wheel retailer lists a matte-black 18x8 +45 mm wheel under a part number it describes as "TRD Pro" and says it fits Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser and certain Lexus models.5 That is a vendor claim, and it conflicts with the 8.5-inch +20 figure above, so the labels are not consistent. The same listing says TPMS sensors and lug nuts are sold separately.
  • The vendor claim about other trucks is a lead to check, not a guarantee. Hub bore and bolt pattern are the first things to confirm, because a wheel with the right pattern but a smaller bore than your hub will not fit at all. Verify the actual hub on the receiving vehicle and lug hardware.

In practice, ask any seller for photos of the back of a wheel showing the stamped size, offset, Toyota part number and any casting number, plus the date code on the tyre sidewall. Match them to a Toyota parts lookup for your VIN.

Take-off sets and wanted posts

In the Tacoma forum thread behind this topic, an owner of a 2024 TRD Sport was looking for a TRD Pro wheel and tyre combination in the New York tri-state area. One reply offered a set described as 2025 TRD Pro take-offs, but the wheels described were an aftermarket 17x8.5 -10 wheel with 37-inch tyres, and the offer was "minus sensors".6 That example shows why you should check what a listing really contains: a "take-off" label does not mean a factory Toyota set, and a -10 offset wheel is a very different proposition from a +20 or +45 one.

Offset, width and clearance

A wheel with a lower offset sits further out. Going from the +55 mm SR5/Limited wheel to a +20 mm TRD Pro wheel moves the face outward by 35 mm, which is why the Pro truck has a wider stance. On a stock truck that was designed for it, the Pro wheel fits. On a truck with a different suspension setup, expect to check clearance at full lock and under compression, especially with larger tyres. Check the tyre-to-fender and tyre-to-control-arm gaps with the truck loaded.

TPMS sensors

Take-offs often come without sensors, and the truck needs sensors in the wheels to clear the warning light. Facts reported by Tacoma owners:7

  • Toyota generally uses 315 MHz sensors across its range, according to forum members, and one poster identified the factory part number 42607-0E090 for the 2024 Tacoma.
  • A parts manager reportedly said 2024 sensor part numbers do not match the third-generation system, so sensors from older trucks may not be compatible.
  • One member cloned programmable aftermarket sensors to factory IDs for winter wheels for two winters, while another warned that some aftermarket sensors could not be synchronised with Toyota systems.

This is owner opinion. Confirm the part number and frequency with a Toyota dealer parts counter for your VIN, and have a tyre shop register the sensor IDs with the truck. Have a shop read the sensors on any used set before you buy.

Before you buy: a checklist

  1. Confirm your truck's current wheel size and offset from the door-jamb placard or the back of the wheel.
  2. Confirm the donor wheel's width, offset, hub bore and bolt pattern from its markings.
  3. Compare tyre diameter: 265/70R18 is about 32.6 inches, and a larger tyre may alter the speedometer.
  4. Check whether sensors, lug nuts, centre caps and tyres are included.
  5. Inspect tyre age (the four-digit date code) and tread, and the wheels for bends, cracks and curb damage.
  6. Use the lug hardware specified for the truck and torque to the owner's manual value; wheels are a safety item, so have a qualified shop mount and balance them.

What Toyota's own 2024 material confirms

Toyota's US brochure identifies the TRD Pro wheel as an 18-inch black alloy wheel. Toyota's launch material describes the Pro with 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tyres.89 That is a better starting point for identifying a 2024 Tacoma factory package than a 4Runner discussion or an advert using "TRD Pro" loosely. It also explains why the Toyo tyre reference above must not be treated as a confirmed Tacoma specification.

Neither the brand badge nor the "33-inch" description establishes the exact wheel offset or the tyres currently fitted to a used set. Read the actual markings and sidewalls. Owners can replace tyres or fit aftermarket wheels before selling a package under the trim name.

What should I ask a take-off seller to show?

Request four rear-wheel marking photos, four tyre sidewall and tread photos, and the donor truck's model year and trim. Ask for the mileage at removal, whether the tyres were changed, and a written list of sensors, caps and lug hardware included. Where sensors are included, have a shop establish their application rather than using "Toyota TPMS" as sufficient identification.

Does matching the TRD Pro appearance prove a factory set?

No. Use the Toyota part number and casting details to check with a parts counter. Centre caps, black paint and a TRD logo are appearance cues rather than a complete parts identification.

What should the budget include besides the set?

Allow for a professional fitment assessment, any sensor work, mounting and balancing, and appropriate hardware. Compare the total against a wheel-only package using tyres you already know suit your truck.
